I dont have one yet... But I'm looking forward to having one. I REALLY want this dog, but not if it's horrifically barky... Which I don't know if it will be?

Teaching a Yorkie not to bark

Well, if it was my pup, and it was very annoying to listen to the barking, I would pick the pup up when she started to bark and put her in another room in her crate, close the door, and walk away. She may continue to bark in the crate, but you can put some distance from her to keep your sanity. She will soon learn that she is NOT getting what she wants when she barks and will stop. Give her plenty of attention otherwise, and teach her obedience commands and tricks. It will stimulate her mind and help develop a bond between the two of you. When she is quiet, let her out of the crate, pet her, play with her, etc. It is somewhat like ignoring her, but moving her away from you will help you to not lose your temper also. NEVER physically punish a young pup. She is just a baby and you don't want her to fear people.

They don't like to be alone. A water bottle will help, as they do not like water. If they bark at night, try putting their bedding next to yours. That's what we have done, and it helps tremendously. Also, try feeding them before you leave your house, that seems to help too, as our Yorkies love to eat all the time, contrary to some other posts that we have read...
